I turned 30 last week!

Well, the last few weeks have been PACKED for me. Literally. I’ve been itching to post more on here about all going on, but it seems everytime I get psyched to post a new entry, I get sidetracked with work and somehow that becomes the priority. Makes sense I suppose, but I love to post and share information on here so I plan to make a big effort to up date this blog more often. Reading all this stuff about NaBloPoMo recently, has also inspired me to try and keep up with the Blog a bit more. Sometimes I wonder how people have time to write so much everyday! Is there some sort of Blogging Superpower Snack that you have to take to keep up with so much blogging? I suppose I just need to make more of an effort to fit it in! There’s something really quite theraputic about writing in here, so I really do want to keep up a bit more.

So, that said, there’s so much going on with work, life, the world, yowza.
I won’t get into anything political on here as I don’t want this blog to be about that, but I will say it is exciting to see what lays ahead in the world with some of the great changes recently. Although, conversely, there’s certainly some downright depressing shifts taking place that I can’t even begin to express my disgust in. But, I digress…..

I turned 30 on October 27th.
It’s a biggy! I think I’ve settled into the fact that a new decade in my life has commenced, but it still sounds odd to say I’m in my thirties. I’m so damn lucky that life has given me all the oppurtunities it has and that I am confident in who I am and where my life is going. The twenties were definitely all about figuring myself out and finding those jumping stones to help me move on. I think the thirties have a lot to bring me so I am really looking forward to them. I have two 2 dear friends who also celebrate birthdays in October so we had a group birthday celebration called Rawktoberfest! We went to The Rugby Beach Club for dinner and drinks, which was fantastic. Then after dinner some good friends hosted a birthday party at their house for us! There was a karaoke machine in attendance and LOTS of people showed up to celebebrate with us so needless to say, it was super fun. It was an awesome time spent with my hubs and all my good friends…I am so incredibly thankful to have them all in my lives. Kristopher’s brother came into town from Toronto for the week of my birthday, so it was great to have him around and spend some time with him again. On my actual birthday, myself, Kris and Kevin went to the island for a little daytrip to Victoria. Turned out to be a great day for it and we had a nice time checking out the city. We finished the day off with a trip to Hatley Castle as I have a wedding booked there next year and I’ve been dieing to check it out. The place is absolutely magical and I am soooooo excited to shoot Melanie and Stephen’s wedding there next year. Here’s an HDR shot of the castle….look at how beautiful this place is!

October was a crazy month and I can’t believe we’re already into November. I am so not prepared to start thinking about Christmas! I’m seriously shocked at the plethora of Christmas spirit all over the city and stores already…..it was up before Halloween was even over! I must admit though, I’m a wee bit excited to pull out the xmas decorations and get the house and patio looking nice and festive.:)So yes….what else? October was a bit rough for me as suffered through two crashed laptops and had to spend a few weeks without one. It sucked! On top of that, I was having some serious software problems and am right now dealing with some crazy bug where everytime I export out of Lightroom, it crashes my computer. Ayyyee. thank god I’m a back up junkie now and everything is backed up multiple times. Anyway….what can you do but keep your head up, and keep on plugging! Despite some hiccups through the month, the beautiful asthetic that comes with fall has certainly left me smiling each day. I absolutely love all the colors that come with autumn and nothing beats that crisp fall morning air. I have some outdoor shoots coming up and I’m super excited to get out there and capture some great shots in the fall surroundings.

I have my last wedding of the season coming up at the end of November and although it will be nice to have a break, it’s a bit saddening! I love what I do and love working with the great people I do, so that part will certainly be missed over the winter months. However, 2009 bookings are off to a great start and I’m looking forward another year of great weddings and clients. I also some other exciting shoots coming up like an album promo shoot and some family portraits sessions.

Ok….so enough babbling!
I’ll leave you with some photos from my birthday party…..:)

This is one of my favorites from the night – the moment after Monique asked Cori to be her maid of honor! It was soooo sweet. I can’t wait to shoot Mo’s wedding next September!
