Sunday night I had the awesome pleasure of attending and shooting the 2010 Aislewalk magazine release party, held by chief editor & photographer extraordinaire, Erin Gilmore. What a fantastic event! Erin and the team at Milestone Events REALLY outdid themselves and it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of it. It was held at the always beautiful, Pacific Palisades Hotel in downtown Vancouver. It was SO great to see so many of our industry colleagues out and to meet so many new faces! This years publication is absolutely stunning – page after page of beautiful imagery and design that is clearly the work of some of the finest creative talent our city knows. HUGE kudos to Tanya from Zboya Design who worked with Erin on the design of the magazine. From the metallic foil print on the cover, to the gorgeous & dramatic back page shot of Swan-E-Set, it’s packed with stunning content – truly a piece of editorial beauty. Not to mention, perfectly sized! At a quaint 6″x6″ it sits boldly atop every magazine pile and fits perfectly in any bag. Convenient for those brides who like to take their inspiration everywhere! Cans for Comments 2009 – Blog Love=Free Food!

The holidays are upon us and I’m SUPER stoked to start up the Cans For Comments again this year. I first found out about it last Christmas when Chris +Lynn started it up in their blog. I quickly jumped on the can wagon right away as it’s such a great and easy way to give back. How does it work? SO EASY. For every comment you leave me on the blog over the next 3 weeks (that means YOU, reading this!), I will donate a can of food to the Vancouver Food Bank. That’s it! That’s all you gotta’ do. 10 seconds out of your day to leave a bit of love on the blog and you’ve donated to a great cause.

Last year I had a decent load of cans to take the bank, but I’d love to double it or even triple it this year. SO, you know what that means!! I’ll be posting as many entries as possible this month to try and keep the comments flowing. The more we can donate, the better!

Just wanted to post a note to say a HUGE congratulations to Danijela & Jonathons new addition to the family! I can’t believe it’s already been a year since the wedding, but it makes me so happy to see them starting their little family already. They are going to be AMAZING parents. It’s always so exciting to follow my clients after the wedding and see them through some of lifes major milestones.

I wish you all the best this amazing new chapter in your lives together!

Radiohead In Rainbows Tour = UH-MAZING

Last night I had the amazingly pleasure of seeing Radiohead perform at Thunderbird stadium. It was the second time I’ve seen them there and all I can so say is this show was incredible! We arrived just as they came on, and just as the rain started. Nobody seemed to mind the rain though…it just added to whole mood and vibe of the show I think. The visuals were sooooooooooo amazing. There were huge screens on both sides of the stage, and in the middle, which had coverage from about 6-7 different cameras all over the stage. The footage and effects were so awesome. They had these amazing “rods” of light on the stage too….over 100 if them. All through the night they had these fantastic lights dancing on them in various patterns and what not….it was incredible! They looked like the strings on those old oil lamps that people had in the 80′s….it was such a great visual effect for the show. The set list rocked too. Lots of my favorite old tracks and a good balance of the new stuff. Here’s the set list (they even let the audience choose the final track!)

HSBC Celebration of Light

July 24th already. Wow, where has the month gone too? Are we really half way through summer already?

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly time flies in the summer. Heck, all year seems to speed by at record pace! I swear, the older I get, the quicker my life seems to go! I shouldn’t complain I guess….’tis certainly a sign that my life is full of great things to keep time moving. I’d rather be super busy doing the things I love, than sittin’ around doing nothing and complaining about how boring life is!

Last night the HSBC Celebration of Lights started. Original plan was to hook up with some friends, but things changed and we just ended up staying in and catching what we could from the patio. I could see a few of the fireworks from the patio but there is one building that is right in direct view of them, so we only get to see the really big one. We will definitely head out for Saturday night’s show though. Saturday is the USA show, then China is on the 30th and the finale is Aug 2. Here’s a shot from the patio of last nights show…. good job Canada! (even though I couldn’t see it all, it sounded amazing)

Piper McKinnon plays the Backstage

A few weeks back I had the pleasure of shooting (and hearing) the amazing Piper McKinnon.
Her and the boys played at the Backstage Lounge on Granville Island and it was a
fantastic show. That girl has such a fantastic voice. Coupled with the sweet melodies she brings to life on the piano, and the boys playing the strings fantasticly, it all makes for an amazing, Tori-esque evening. Thanks for another great show guys!
