I’m John Heil, a wedding and portrait photographer based in gorgeous Vancouver BC. I love making people feel beautiful and making the everyday seem extraordinary through photographs.

This here blog is where you'll find my recent work, random photos, daily ramblings and whatever other stuff I can think of. This is also where I'll post the teaser shots of all my weddings and shoots! I can't think of anything better than taking some ones photograph and making them feel beautiful and unique when they view it. Doesn't everyone deserve to feel that way? It's pretty incredible how much a photo can make a person feel, so I hope that seeing some of my photos here, will do just that for you. Make you FEEL something. :)

Girls and Their Boys

Yesterday I had an awesome shoot with 7 wicked girls! Jenny asked a few months back if I’d be up for photographing her and her 6 bridesmaids for a gift to them from her. Of course I jumped all over it! These girls were an absolute hoot to work with! Can’t wait to post more!

Oh, anyone wondering why the heck I haven’t posted anything in so long, well, it’s been a crazy busy month and sadly, the blog has been neglected! I was away in New York to shoot at a wedding at Boldt Castle, and then spent 4 days down in NYC. More on those coming soon!!! I’m off to Europe on Sunday for two weeks, so, you know what that means….blog posts will be slim, but I’ll try get in at least a few updates! For the daily giberish, feel free to follow me on Twitter!

Tita & Brian: Steveston Engagement Session

I’ve been so excited to post this session. I’ve shot a LOT of engagement sessions over the last month and this one was full of all sorts of awesome! I’ve known Tita for awhile now as I shot her sister Marbels wedding last year! Marbel is the owner of Little White Dress Boutique and we’ve since colaborated on many projects and are actually travelling to Europe together this summer! Tita is a make up artist and works for Sephora in Coquitlam, but also works for the dress boutique with Marbel, providing make up services for clients there. She is truly an amazing talent and does absolutely gorgeous work so if you ever need a wicked artist, call her! Tita had these KILLER red pumps that she wore the shoot and boy oh boy, did these two rock it. We shot at this great old produce farm out in Steveston, as well as an old abandoned school lot not far away from the farm. It was a great afternoon and I couldnt have pulled it off without their awesome attitudes and the full on sexy they brought to the shoot! Thank you guys for being so damn rad. And a big thanks to my trusty assistant Jo for helping with this shoot!

NYC Photographica!

So, since I’m heading to NYC again in just over a month, I figured it was probably time I posted some photographs from my last trip to NY! I only posted a few before, so here’s the full meal deal…..better late than never, right? I took a different route with my editing on these and decided to do a mix of cross processing and such….something a little different for this time through NYCEnjoy!
